PLTW (Project Lead The Way)
Project Lead The Way offers a different approach to learning and teaching. Through activity, project, and problem-based curriculum. PLTY gives students in kindergarten through high-school a chance to apply what they know, identify problems, find unique solutions, and lead their own learning. For teachers, our engaging, rigorous professional development model provides tools to empower students and transform the classroom into a collaborative space where content comes to life.
Middle school is the perfect time for students to explore and learn that there is more than one way to reach a solution. PLTY Gateway provides engineering and bio-medical science curriculum for middle school students that challenges, inspires, and offers schools variety and flexibility. Students get rigorous and relevant experiences through activity, project, and problem-based learning. They use industry-leading technology to solve problems while gaining skills in communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
Design and Modeling
In Design and Modeling class (DM) students discover the design process and develop an understanding of the influence of creativity and innovation in their lives. They will collaborate, communicate, critically think, and create to solve problems using sketches and designs solving everyday real-world problems. Students also learn how to use computer-aided design (CAD) applications to create solid models of various objects and designs.
RObotics
Automation and Robotics (AR) allows students to trace the history, development, and influence of automation and robotics as they learn about mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation, and computer control systems. Students use the VEX Robotics platform and programming software to design, build, and program real-world objects such as traffic lights, toll booths, and robotic arms.
Green Architecture - starting 2023 - 2024
In Green Architecture, students learn how to apply “green” concepts to the fields of architecture and construction by exploring dimensioning, measuring and architectural sustainability as they design affordable housing units using 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software. This course should be available starting the 23/24 school year.
Medical detectives - starting in 2023 - 2024
In Medical Detectives, students play the role of real-life medical detectives as they collect and analyze medical data to diagnose disease. They solve medical mysteries through hands-on projects and labs, measure and interpret vital signs, dissect a sheep brain, investigate disease outbreaks, and explore how a breakdown within the human body can lead to dysfunction. This course should be available starting the 23/24 school year.
