SPRING CLEAN-UP is a GREAT SUCCESS at TEWINKLE!

Thanks so much to all the students, parents, and other volunteers who helped make our campus look great.  They planted over 200 trees, shrubs, and flowers.  We had over 50 volunteers and our back courtyard looks beautiful!  Everyone got up super early on Saturday morning and arrived at 6:30 am to unload a truck load of plants.   We got to digging, planting, and even axing some old roots. Thank you again to all our parent and student volunteers!  See below for pictures of the event.

School Safety Letter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Our school staff is very concerned about student safety. Monthly drills are held to teach students the proper method of responding to various emergencies.  Fire drills, earthquake drills, and lockdowns are practiced throughout the year.  In an unlikely event of a disaster, it is important for the school to have specific emergency information about your child. You will be required at the beginning of each school year to complete an emergency release form. Please keep this information updated.

In the event of an emergency, the following policy will apply:

  • Building Closures: In the event that the school buildings are closed and students are to be released, they will be released at the Southern gate on the baseball field next to the Gisler Ave. School Parking Lot.  If access to this location is not available, then students will be released at the Eastern gate on the baseball field along Iowa Street next to the intersection of Iowa St. and Gisler Ave..  Students will only be released to someone on their emergency release form with proper I.D. Students will be supervised by staff until picked up.
  • Major emergency (When control passes to city/county officers): All students will be retained at school DURING and AFTER school hours. If students are in the process of being transported home by district buses, the buses will return the students to school.  In the unlikely event that the school must close, and staff and students need to be relocated, appropriate signage and phone notifications will be made directing parents/guardians to the new reunification site address.
  • Minor emergency:  Students will be released at the regular time.

If an emergency should occur when schools are not in session, you can learn whether or not schools will be closed by listening to local radio stations or local news broadcasts.  All other means possible will be used to communicate emergency information as the situation allows (schools and district website www.nmusd.us School Messenger phone notifications, AlertOC/AlertCM, etc).  The District also utilizes Facebook and Twitter.

Estimados padres y tutores legales,
